Phone Scams

Maine Credit Union League has notified us of a phone scam going on. Scammers claiming to be with a Maine credit union’s fraud department are calling their members to inform them that fraud has been detected on their card account. The scammers are specifically asking members to share the following information – all of which the credit union would never ask for:

• Last 4 of their Social Security #
• Expiration date on the card
• Security code on the back of the card
• Online Banking Username

Remember, Downeast Credit Union will never ask for sensitive information over the phone. If you receive a call hang up. Dial us back directly if you are unsure and want to speak with someone.
