Posted on January 9, 2024 | Latest News

Downeast Credit Union and Downeast Insurance recently donated $10,000 to the Richmond Middle & High School for the construction of a new softball field scoreboard.

Through business practices, outreach, education, contributions and volunteerism, Downeast Credit Union and Insurance are committed to the communities they serve. The scoreboard donation aligns with the Downeast core value of community, showing their long term commitment and dedication to the Richmond area.

President of Downeast Insurance, Stacy Johansen stated, “We are proud to support our hometown bobcats with this donation. We know the positive impact sports can have on our young athletes, building lifelong skills in teamwork, dedication and perseverance. Sponsoring the scoreboard is another way for Downeast to show how proud we are of these young athletes.”

The new digital scoreboard will be installed this spring in time for the softball season.

“Downeast made the fundraising process very easy on us. We had hoped that they would be part of the project but had not expected them to cover the full amount of the scoreboard,” adds Richmond Middle & High School athletic director, Jon Spear. “Our community will be proud to display the new board for many years to come.”

Downeast Credit Union and Downeast Insurance have eight locations across Maine including 151 Main Street in Richmond. They take pride in helping members find reliable transportation, even helping to car shop during the lending process, and now offer first-time auto loans and insurance to young members.
