On Friday, March 5th, Downeast Team Members Tonia Lanier, Senior VP of Lending & Branch Operations and Joanne Cushing, Regional Branch Manager presented the deed to 2 Elm Street in Machias to Christina Therrien, Town Manager, with Selectmen Jim Jackson and Leslie Haynes, accepting on behalf of the Town of Machias.
With the parcel of land located near Bad Little Falls, the Town of Machias hopes to someday utilize the space as a naturally contoured amphitheater where community members can enjoy live music and entertainment.
“The credit union is pleased to collaborate with the Town and give back to our community,” adds DECU Regional Branch Manager, Joanne Cushing. “In preparing the land for donation, DECU oversaw the removal of a structure so that the Town could easily take over the land without liability or hassle. All of the Team at Downeast shares in the excitement of utilizing this space alongside friends, family and neighbors as a future community gathering spot, sure to ‘Wow Ya’ for many years to come.”
