Downeast Credit Union is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine, marking the Credit Union’s 10th consecutive year receiving this statewide recognition.
Downeast Credit Union ranked 47th in the 2026 Best Places to Work in Maine program for mid-sized businesses, earning recognition among the state’s top employers. For Downeast Credit Union, the milestone represents more than a decade of awards—it reflects a long-standing commitment to creating a workplace where team members are supported, encouraged to grow, and given opportunities to build meaningful careers.
“Being named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the tenth consecutive year is an incredible accomplishment, and one we are especially proud of because it reflects the voices of our team members,” said Trevor Gordon, VP of Human Resources at Downeast Credit Union. “Our people are at the heart of everything we do. We want Downeast to be a place where team members feel valued, have opportunities to advance, and can build a career they are proud of.”
Downeast Credit Union strives to provide team members with opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Career advancement opportunities, paid education and training, and professional development help team members continue to build their skills and pursue their career goals within the organization.
The Credit Union also recognizes that being a great place to work means supporting team members outside of their day-to-day responsibilities. DECU offers benefits and perks designed to promote work-life balance, including three-day weekends each month and a paid day off for team members’ birthdays.
Throughout the year, Downeast team members also have opportunities to connect, celebrate, and have fun together. Annual traditions such as Spirit Week and Team Member Appreciation Week recognize the contributions of employees across the organization and create opportunities for team members to celebrate one another.
“At Downeast, we believe taking care of our team and achieving strong results go hand in hand,” said Moses. “We want our people to build meaningful careers, reach their goals, and feel proud of the work they do every day. We celebrate individual and team successes, support opportunities to learn and advance, and make time to enjoy the journey together. Being recognized for the tenth consecutive year makes us proud of what we’ve built as a team.”
The Best Places to Work in Maine program identifies, recognizes, and honors the state’s top employers that create outstanding workplace cultures. The program evaluates employers based on workplace policies, practices, and benefits, as well as confidential employee surveys measuring engagement and satisfaction. A significant portion of each organization’s overall score comes directly from employee feedback, giving team members an important voice in the recognition.
Downeast Credit Union’s 10 consecutive years on the Best Places to Work in Maine list reflects its ongoing commitment to a people-first culture built on respect, opportunity, growth, and community.
