One Basket at a Time
Downeast Credit Union & Insurance is proud to partner with six local schools for the 2025–2026 basketball season:
Calais High School, Machias High School, Mount View High School, Richmond Middle & High School, Washington Academy, and Woodland High School.
Now in its second year, the Downeast Dunkers program channels our mission, vision, and values directly into our communities—through school pride, student involvement, and meaningful financial support.
A Season of Support for Students & Schools
Throughout the basketball season, participating schools will receive cash and in-kind contributions from Downeast Credit Union & Insurance to help strengthen their athletic programs, support booster clubs, and enhance the student experience.

“The Dunkers program was created by our talented and creative team at Downeast Credit Union and Insurance,” shares Downeast Credit Union President & CEO, Joseph Moses. “With six area schools participating, we have allocated $30,000 for the initiative. Our Team is proud to be aligning the credit union’s mission, vision and values into the Dunkers program as we give back to area schools.”
Funds raised are expected to help purchase new warm-up jerseys, provide supplies for concessions, and support a variety of school and athletic booster initiatives.
Interactive Halftime Fundraiser: Dunkers Ball Toss
At select home games, fans can take part in a fun, high-energy fundraiser:
- Purchase a Dunkers ball for a chance to toss it into a wagon at halftime
- Make the shot → win a $100 gift card!
Enjoy school t-shirt tosses coordinated by Downeast Team Members and student volunteers.
This energetic halftime event brings the whole crowd together in support of their school.
Student-Led, Community-Driven
The Downeast Dunkers program puts students front and center:
- Free-Throw Challenge: Every varsity free throw made adds $2 to the total that Downeast Credit Union & Insurance will contribute.
- Students get hands-on experience as community volunteers, designing and updating fundraising charts, building t-shirt launchers, assisting with game-time activities, and generating school pride.
It’s school spirit with purpose—and a chance for students to shine both on and off the court.
