Posted on June 4, 2019 | Latest News

Congratulations to Mason Pottle, Board Chair at Downeast, for receiving the 2019 Alexander Ferguson Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer Award from the Maine Credit Union League (MECUL).

At the MECUL Annual Meeting and Convention on May 17, credit union leaders in various categories were recognized for their outstanding service. Award presentations were made at the League’s Convention banquet, held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay before a crowd of over 700 people.

“Our League’s awards program recognizes the exceptional work of our credit union network’s employees and volunteers,” said Cheryl Lancaster, Executive Vice President of the Maine Credit Union League. “Each day, in every county across Maine, we have credit union representatives going above and beyond to serve their communities and their members. These awards are our way of recognizing their commitment and expressing appreciation for their service.”

Since joining the Downeast Board in 1990 and becoming Chairman in 1992, Mr. Pottle has presided over nearly 300 monthly board meetings and 27 Annual Meetings. During his time as the Chairman, Mason has led the organization from $15.5 million in assets to now having eight branch locations serving over 20,000 members with over $200 million in assets.

“Mason is the type of volunteer every credit union desires to have on board as a champion,” said Joseph Moses, President/CEO of Downeast Credit Union. “Here at Downeast, we are extremely fortunate to be the recipient of nearly three decades of volunteerism, guidance and mentorship from Mr. Pottle.”

Mason has devoted so much of his personal life to serving the members of Downeast Credit Union, our team of skilled workers, and the communities we serve. Receiving this year’s Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer Alexander Ferguson Award is a true testament to Mason’s dedication and commitment to the Maine credit union movement for nearly 3 decades.
