Relay for Life

Teams from the Down East Branches in Machias, Bowdoinham/Richmond and Baileyville/Calais have all participated in the Relay for Life in their communities and on June 26th and 27th a team from the Belfast Branch will take part in the Belfast Area Relay for Life. Thank You to all who helped us raise money for this very worthwhile event. Cancer has or will touch every one of us at some time in our life, your support is appreciated.

Relay for Life 3 down one to GO!

Three teams from Down East Credit Union have participated in Relay for Life walks in their areas to raise money for the American Cancer Society. In April a team from the Machias Branch walked, on May 15th and 16th a team consisting of employees from our Richmond and Bowdoinham branches walked in Brunswick and on May 29th the Baileyville and Calais team walked in Calais. Also walking were employees of Down East Insurance Agency. On June 26th & 27th a team from Belfast will participate in the Belfast Area Relay for Life. This year teams from Down East have donated over $4830.00 Thank you to all who have supported us. A special Thank You to Gayle Moholland for once donating a beautiful handmade quilt for us to raffle.

MBACC honors Down East Credit Union

On Friday evening April 3, 2009 the Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce honored Lori Peakall-Cote with their Volunteer of the Year award. Lori has been with the credit unon for 7 years and is the Regional Vice President in charge of the Machias, Baileyville, Bangor and Calais Branches. Gloria Merrill was nominated for the MBACC Employee of the Year award and Down East Credit Union was nominated for the Business of the Year award. Congratulations to the entire staff of the Machias Branch.

Polar Bear Dip

For the 5th year in a row a team from Down East Credit Union's Baileyville Branch participated in the Washington County Community College's Polar Bear Dip to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Bangor. This year the team, with great support from the many Down East employees and members, raised $1600. The team would like to thank all who donated to this worthy cause.

The team consist of first time dipper, Jason Theriault and veteran dippers, Tonia Hold, Rosemary Roussel, Emily Gallway, Bette Papke, Linda Howe and Bridget Monk.
